Welcome to Shark Bay Coastal Tours. We are a locally owned and operated tour company specialising in high quality 4WD Nature Safaris. We can show you where the turquoise waters, white sandy beaches and the rusty red desert come together to form one of the most breathtaking landscapes on the planet. We focus on a personal service, specialising in small group bookings (maximum of 6)  focused on the customer and their experience.

 

At Shark Bay Coastal Tours your safety is at the forefront of our operation, all guides have up to date First Aid training and we carry safety equipment on board the tour vehicle at all times. These items include a comprehensive First Aid kit, Satellite Phone, Fire Extinguisher, Recovery Gear, Tools and extra water. We are a conservation conscious business located on the pristine shores of Shark Bay, in Western Australia. Our mission is to protect and conserve the local marine and terrestrial environment and inspire our visitors to appreciate the wildlife calling this place home.  Whilst taking in the magnificent views on tour with your guide Garth, enjoy spotting the spectacular wildlife and exploring the 4WD tracks Shark Bay World Heritage Area has to offer. Shark Bay Coastal Tours also offers accommodation. Our fully self contained Villa, Blue Water Views, has ocean views and is situated in a quiet, private location in the township of Denham. Blue Water Views boasts views out towards Useless Loop and Dirk Hartog Island from the comfort the villa’s living and garden areas. Our Vehicle

All tours are conducted in our 2016 Nissan Patrol 4WD. To ensure your safety our vehicle is serviced and maintained to the highest possible standard and in accordance with the regulations set out by the Department of Transport for small charter vehicles. The vehicle is fully air conditioned with comfortable forward-facing seats. A minimum number of 2 and maximum of 6 people for all of our day tours ensures that you experience a personalised service in a spacious and comfortable environment. Our vehicle can accommodate baby seats and we take pleasure in accommodating your whole family.

Your Guide

Your guide Garth is a local to the area, living in the bay for almost 10 years. Garth is extremely passionate about the local area, he is an excellent wildlife spotter so you’ll never miss a thing whilst cruising down the red, sandy 4WD tracks around the area. He will take you to the best locations to look for local marine life and will be able to give you commentary on behaviours you may encounter on your trip. If its land animals that you’re after, then listen out for directions on where to look, Garth has a keen eye to spot the tiny lizards that seek warmth on the tracks and is always paying close attention to what may be soaring up in the skies.

Shark Bay

Shark Bay is situated in the northwest of Western Australia about 800km from Perth and boasts some of the most spectacular landscapes in the world. It is home to some of Australia’s most unique wildlife, including, sharks, dugongs and indo pacific bottlenose dolphins to woma pythons and thorny devils, bilby’s, echidnas, kangaroos and emus. Shark Bay is also home to some of the first life forms on the planet, the oldest living organisms on earth, the stromatolites. It is one of only a few places in the world to meet all 4 of UNESCO’s natural World Heritage criteria.

Shark Bay is a diverse region which boasts rich history and cultures, from the local traditional owners, the Malgana and Nhanda aboriginal people to the first settlers and explorers to come ashore on this arid rusty landscape. Due to its rich cultural history Shark Bay has a lot to offer visitors to the region. Whether you’re interested in culture, shipwrecks and stories from the east India trading days, to the wildlife endemic to the region or you’re a thrill seeker here to enjoy and explore the outdoors.   • To contain the most important and significant natural habitats for in-situ conservation of biological diversity, including those containing threatened species of outstanding universal value from the point of view of science or conservation.
