It is home to some of Australia’s most unique wildlife, including, sharks, dugongs and indo pacific bottlenose dolphins to woma pythons and thorny devils, bilby’s, echidnas, kangaroos and emus. Shark Bay is also home to some of the first life forms on the planet, the oldest living organisms on earth, the stromatolites. It is one of only a few places in the world to meet all 4 of UNESCO’s natural World Heritage criteria.

Shark Bay is a diverse region which boasts rich history and cultures, from the local traditional owners, the Malgana and Nhanda aboriginal people to the first settlers and explorers to come ashore on this arid rusty landscape. Because of its rich cultural history Shark Bay has a lot to offer visitors to the region. Whether you’re interested in culture, shipwrecks and stories from the east India trading days, to the wildlife endemic to the region or you’re a thrill seeker here to enjoy and explore the outdoors.
